"Words, no matter whether they are vocalized and made into sounds or remain unspoken as thought, can cast an almost hypnotic spell on you." -Eckhart Tolle, contemporary spiritual teacher.
This quote really resonates with me. I believe that if I control my thoughts I control my reality - at least in degrees.
We all have "little voices" inside our heads, and for those of you that just thought "I don't have a little voice inside my head!" well, that's your little voice.
That voice is a tool, like a hammer. If you practice using it wisely and with purpose, you can build your mind into a magnificent mansion. If you don't practice using it wisely you will forever be a child with a saw and it will be dangerous.
Create your reality.

Along the same lines, "Be aware that what you think, to a large extent, creates the emotions that you feel. See the link between your thinking and your emotions. Rather than being your thoughts and emotions, be the awareness behind them," (Tolle, A New Earth).
Becoming aware of your thoughts is key. I've often "thought" the opposite of what is said here--that my emotions are out of my control and that my thoughts come after-in response to the way I'm feeling. But I am beginning to realize that it is my unconscious thinking that is inflicting upon my emotions.
We are just beginning to realize the power that the mind has over our realities. Tolle's message that we are not our thoughts or our emotions, but the awareness behind these things is definitely a freeing concept.
